How did these artists ever come up with these ideas?

Michael Kalish made a three-dimensional sculpture of heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali using 1,300 sand bags, hanging from 10 kilometers of stainless steel cable:


He dedicated the website http://www.realizeali.com/ to his ImmortuAlize, visuAlize, reAlize monument.

Paige Thompson paints her own lips in very special styles in her series Animal-ipstick:


The Amusing Planet blog shows some nice paintings in vivid colors.

Bryan Lewis Saunders made one self-portrait per day since 1995 (8000 total). The extra special thing about that is that some of them were made while under the influence of various chemicals.
