The power of storytelling

At the end of his talk he says:
"That’s the power of storytelling: focus on what’s dignified, courageous and beautyful".
Isn’t that much more interesting and a larger contribution than our ‘usual’ news stories? How come we do not see more of these in our newspapers. Sites like Newspiration try to make a difference in mainstream media, but it soes not seem to be holding on (yet).
