One laptop per child
March 9th, 2008 Posted in Taking a standThe OLPD project has really started last year. Mass production of the machines started in November 2007 with a first batch of 7-10 million. Uruguay started rolling out 98000 laptops, and Peru is expected to place an order for 260000.
Look at the Feb 2006 TED talk where Nicholas Negroponte lays out the details of his nonprofit project. As he says in this talk: "We know it works. If you (governement) first want to do a pilot project first, then you’ll have to wait at the end of the line. We have passed that stage."
